Online Journalism

Online newspapers allow articles to remain available online for years. This again means that writers can link to old articles instead of having to summarize background information in every article. It is possible to link to full background materials.
  • Provide more information about the concerned topic so that they stay rather than go elsewhere.
  • Do not certain words while writing e-mail messages, in order to make to spam free. e.g: opportunity, offer, special discount, discount, conference, announcement
If you use above mentioned words, Your message will be deleted and unread.
SEO writing: Use Popular words: Some popular words may be banned by some states. But, it is always better to use popular words rather than legal words while using search engines for some information. e.g. when you want some information related to physically challenged, use the word “handicaps” rather than the legal term “physically challenged”. The latter one may sound more polite and legally correct, but use the former one because most of the people use the former one.
If you use latest or stylish words that are still set to gain popularity, you may lose your traffic. For example, it is better to use the word ‘receptionist’ rather than ‘front line office’. Some readers may not be aware of the latter word. Two highly important factors namely time and space influence the content writer highly. The blogging has re-defined the influence of two factors.
Space: When a person wants to write an article for an offline journal, he must be highly careful about the number of words. A journal cannot publish an article if it contains 2,500 words when the required count is just 250 words. But, if the writer does the same thing when is writing for a blog, it does not create him a big problem. Nowadays, several blog hosting companies are providing unlimited space free of cost. Because of Net journalism, the information has become easily and speedily accessible. However, this change has started with the radio broadcasting itself. The speed has further accelerated by Television media. Internet has made its contribution.
Whenever something is telecast over TV, you have to watch whatever they broadcast. But, they do not broadcast whatever you like. Hypertext links quickly transport you back to an earlier publication date, like to last week. Network news programs, magazines and papers won't perish and nobody stores the old issues of daily papers and magazines. But, it is not the case with website content and e-books.

Offline Journalism
Online Journalism

Proliferation
The proliferation of an offline journal has several limitations by geographical boundaries.

A South Asian may get magazine magazines like “Times” and “Reader’s Digest” in his country but, he can not get “The Washington Post” or “The Sun” everyday in his native town or city. If he wants to get them by ship or flight, it costs him a lot and costs can be borne by industrial houses  but, not by individuals unless he is a billionare.
An online newspaper or news portal can be accessed through the world. One need not be in Washington to read the online version of “The Washington Post”.

The offline circulation of “The Sun” may be confined only to UK while the circulation of “The USA Today” may be confined to USA. But, the circulation of their online editions enjoy viewer ship across the globe.

Online newspapers may provide other services too such as provision of online directories, online social forums. Local restaurant review, local guides. Another type of content that is not available in the newspaper is our archives. Discussions present an obvious content type that does not exist in the newspapers.

Online discussions: Any online entity that allows discussions must confront the question of whether to moderate them. We have heard that some people in the newsroom are uncomfortable with the fact that we have chosen not to moderate discussions, but the decision seems necessary based on existing case law, which indicates that if an information service provider edits or censors discussion postings in any way, that provider may be open to a lawsuit from someone who feels a particular posting was libelous.

The Interchange platform prevents the editing of any posted note (even by the person who wrote it, even if that person is an editor), but it does allow the deletion of entire notes. This leaves the option to remove a posting and send it back to its writer, asking the person to rewrite and repost the note without whatever portion may have been offensive.Even though we don't moderate discussions, we have found that they require a great deal of staff attention.

It also differs from writing a book, because while a book is navigated by reading from beginning to end, by using the index, or by browsing the table of contents, the writer concentrates on the first form of organization, the logical progression from start to finish. Another example is in the way we organize documentation. Instructional material is broken up into topics, but not every topic needs to appear on the top screen that presents one set of help documents.
