The origins of e-books can be traced to early 1970’s. However, it became popular only 1990s and advent of the Internet, which made transferring of electronic files and e-books much easier. In early days, most of such e-books were technical manuals with limited popularity.
- According to an estimation done in August 2009, there are over 2 million e-books which readers can download free of cost. The count keeps on increasing everyday.
- Nowadays, almost all the classics are available as e-books for low or no cost.
- Nowadays, some of the e-books sold by publishers like Amazon are out numbering their paperback counterparts.
- Nowadays, it is not mandatory to have either a computer or CD-player to read an e-book. As several e-book readers are available in market, you can carry them anywhere.
