S.V. Ranga Rao - Vishwa Nata Chakravarthi

Samarla Venkata Ranga Rao, popularly known as S.V.Ranga Rao, was a famous actor of yester years in South India. According to film critics, he was an actor with international standards of acting. Hence, he was appropriately titled Vishwa Nata Chakravarthi.
Early Life
He was born on 3rd July,1918 in Nuziveedu, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. Since very young age, he was highly interested in acting. After completing his graduation, he worked as fireman for a while. Later, he got an offer with the help of one of his relatives to act as the hero in 'Varoodhini'. He resigned his job to entered film industry. When he resigned his government job, his relatives called him as a fool. He acted as hero in Varoodhini. Though the movie was a success, he did not get any further offer. Then, S.V.R. left the Madras presidency for another job.
Then, he got a chance to act as villain in Pathala Bhairavi produced by Vijaya Pictures. His role as Nepala Mantikudu brought him good name and became very popular overnight. Later , he did not look back. He is the first Indian to receive an international award in acting. However, this fact is known only to very few people, both within industry as well as outside the industry.
SVR As Producer
He produced Naadhee Aaada Janmee with NTR on Vaani Films in 1960. Then, he started S.V.R. Films and produced films like Chadarangam and Bandhavyaalu. Bandhavyaalu received the best feature film award from The Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1968..It was the first film for Actress Lakshmi. Chadarangam won the Silver Nandi from the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
He died of cardiac attack on 18th July, 1974, at very early age of 56. His death was a great loss to Telugu film industry. He enjoys great reputation even today, decades after his death. He is popular even in Tamil Nadu.

Some Interesting Facts
SV Ranga Rao is known for his love for food. But, he stopped drinking during the shooting of Sampoorna Ramayanam, directed by Bapu and Ramana.
S.V. Ranga Rao was a good hunter.
